How do you pick your favorite wedding photo?

Our wedding photographer, Lisa Rigby did a cute valentine’s post and asked her brides & grooms of 2010 what their favorite wedding photo was and why. It was interesting to see everyone’s pics and why that photo was so special to them.

It was an incredibly hard decision but we decided to pick one that was most “us.”

Here’s what we picked!

“When Lisa asked us what our most cherished photo was, there was no question. Here we were sitting in the middle of a field on the coast of Ireland on our wedding day. It was incredibly surreal. I love that Lisa was able to capture such a personal moment that shows the sweetness in our relationship and who we are as a couple.”

(Our Wedding Day!) Cocktail Hour

Our cocktail reception at The Cliff House Hotel was absolutely AMAZING! I have to say, it was the highlight of my day.

As left the church we were greeted with a bottle of champagne compliments of Ger’s mom. It was a wonderful surprise for us. Isabel always knew how to celebrate a special occasion.

On the way to our reception Ger and I shared in the bubbly. The rolling hills were gliding past and the sky was clear. It was then when I was able to reflect on the ceremony and what had just happened. It was surreal.

When we arrived at the Cliff House we were escorted to the terrace where the sun was shining and glasses of champagne were being passed. We couldn’t have had a better time. I finally felt truly relaxed and could tell everyone was enjoying themselves.

(our wedding day!) the moment i became a bride

When we arrived at the Cliff House Hotel I knew we were in good hands. I cannot thank the Cliff House staff enough (especially our Event Coordinator, Siobhan Ryan and General Manager, Adriaan Bartels) for the wonderful support and level of service that we received during our stay.

After a stressful night of my dad totaling our car, I finally settled into my room around 1:00am. I vowed that I was not going to allow anymore stress into my life until after the wedding. As a Wedding Specialist, I see too many times where brides get so worked up before their wedding. They aren’t able to enjoy their day or be present. What’s the point, right?

My morning started so peacefully. I woke up and ordered breakfast in bed. It was delicious! I was even able to sneak in an episode of friends before getting ready. It was the perfect wedding day morning. I was finally a bride in my own special way.

completely in love with lindsey & wilson

You really need to check out Lindsey’s Vera Wang Dress. It is absolutely beautiful. Can we talk about that amazing veil?

The shot of Lindsey & Wilson in the Rolls Royce is perfect. They really fit as the classic couple.

I told you my photographer was amazing!

(day before the wedding) dungarvan bound!

Choosing our photographer is one of the biggest decisions we made when making wedding plans.

As you remember, we had a tough time picking our photographer. Our search started with photographers from Ireland but we quickly got discouraged. It suddenly occurred to us to look for more someone local in Boston and try to convince them to travel to Ireland with us for the wedding. I couldn’t be more excited to have one of the best photographers in Boston actually say yes! Lisa Rigby was absolutely phenomenal. She arrived in Ireland on Wednesday and was there to shoot the whole weekend affair. At the end, it was as if she was really part of the family. It made the experience that much more special.

Here are a few photos of us around the town of Dungarvan, a small fishing port located on the southeastern coast of Ireland. Its quaint feel makes it a great place to get to know the locals.

Thank you to our friends Stephen and Steve for joining us in our photos!

it was the way the wind blew

I cannot thank our family and friends enough for all of the love and support that they shared with us on our Wedding Day. Although there was sunshine and smiles, there was one thing missing on that beautiful day, Ger’s mom. After a long battle of cancer, Isabel passed away just days before the wedding.

When you start on the journey of planning your wedding, you don’t realize the decisions you’ll need to make, the hurdles you’ll have to cross or the life lessons you’ll learn.

Our wedding planning took on a new meaning the day we found out that my mother-in-law had cancer in February 09’. The road was never easy but the importance of love, sacrifice and patience were all things that I was lucky enough to learn.

When you have days where you are fighting over flowers, linens or the menu please remember that it just doesn’t matter. Look around and remind yourself the wonderful things you are able to celebrate.

Weddings are for families and friends to come together. For us, It was the way the wind blew that we new Isabel was with us on our special day.

upstairs on the square

Upstairs on the Square is a funky little spot in Cambridge. The walls burst with fluorescent pink and has a slight 80’s feel (in a rad kind of way of course!)

Although I’ve never been there, I hear they have awesome tea!

My favorite photographer (Lisa Rigby of course!) recently shot a wedding at Upstairs on the Square. Here’s a glimpse but be sure to check out more photos here.
