Hidden Comforts

Remember when Brian convinced me to go to Berlin? He has now made me nostalgic for England with this cozy little cottage.  My favorite thing in the world is to be tucked away from the world. Maybe that’s why I love blogging so much since I can experience life at a distance from the comforts of my own home.

Anyway, this cottage would be the perfect place for me to lock myself away for days while enjoying good food & wine and the perfect movie under loads of blankets.

What a difference a candle makes.

I have a mini major obsession with candles. Ask any of the brides that I meet. I tell them how they can never have enough candles at their receptions (and it’s completely true!)

But I’m not talking about weddings and receptions, I’m talking about the home. I’ve been searching for the perfect candles for my little cocoon. The one next to my bedside table is lindseed flower and goat milk, absolutely gorgeous.

I recently learned about the Lollia Poetic Candles. Not only do I love the packaging and design but the description sounds delicious:

Days in the sun
Glow with visions of endless summer.
Soak in the warm aroma of
Mandarin
Orange Blossom & Smooth Amber.

Wow…

Christmas Bliss

via desire to inspire

The best time of the year for home decor is the holidays. Pure. and. simple.

This will be the first year that we don’t put up a Christmas tree. We will be traveling to Ireland for the holidays this year and there didn’t seem like much point to have one up for just a couple weeks.

Maybe next year we’ll feel little more festive, but for now, I’ll be getting my Christmas fix through beautiful photos such as these.

the grieving process of coming home

It was a long and rainy 10 hour drive but we made it. No one ever looks forward to going home.

There is always a feeling of fragility when you arrive in your door. A sense of guilt overwhelms you as if the walls knew how long you had been gone. You don’t recognize your things and there is a certain sadness that looms in the air.

Soon enough, time passes by and it becomes your home again. You feel the warmth and memories that were once created. Comfort reigns while you settle back into your life. I’m looking forward to this moment.

How do you like my cottage? Beautiful isn’t it? Yes, I don’t actually live here but one day I will! One day I’ll live in the cottage in my mind and be happy and free.
