It's time to celebrate!
image via Princess Lasertron found via That’s Happy
We received the best news today, Ger has received his visa! I cannot tell you the total relief, consuming excitement and pure joy that we are feeling. He has been gone 420 days to be exact. That’s a long time for a couple let alone a newly married one.
This process has been grueling. We’ve dealt with thousands of dollars in...

Around the world in 30 minutes.
In any given day I could imagine myself living in five different countries. One day I want to live abroad. It’s been a dream of mine for quite some time. Me and my husband have talked about it and it seems like every other month we are moving to a new country but can’t pull the trigger. We have a comfortable life in the Boston suburbs but as soon as we settle down we get the urge to...

A Journey Down the Prinsengracht.
design via Lotta Nieminen
I think it’s a sign. I watched House Hunters International last night and it was set in the the Netherlands, then I watched Passport to Europe and they were in Amsterdam and now I just found this beautiful design by Lotta Nieminen of what looks like the Prinsengracht in the city center of Amsterdam. All signs point to this canal lined city.

BYOB (Bring Your Own Bags)
I throw out an embarrassing amount of plastic warp, cardboard boxes and Styrofoam containers but I have a feeling that I’m not the only one. So much of our purchases are determined by design and branding. What would happen if that didn’t exist? Would there be a consumer uproar or perhaps just a more conscious sustainable way to live.
In.gredients is a leader in the concept of...

Menorca Circa. 1999
If all goes well with my husband’s visa he should be home in two weeks! We want to take a nice vacation to celebrate and are trying to decide where we want to go.
Ger was going through old family photos and came across these amazing ones from a trip to Menorca. Looks like my kind of place!

Let's Talk About Food Festival
It’s been quite a foodie weekend here at Peaches by Plums! From watching Food Inc. for the first time and changing my perspective on food to attending ButterGirl’s dessert tasting, I’ve realized that there are a lot of great things happening in the food industry. The event that kicked off this food venture for me was the Let’s Talk About Food Festival that took place in...

Food For Thought.
image via Didn’t You Hear
I have been thinking about food more and more lately. Where does it come from, is it processed, where is it grown?
The sad thing is is that I couldn’t tell you what goes in to make a homemade stew but I could definitely tell you what a “number three” is on the Wendy’s value meal or what aisle the frosted flakes are in Walmart and...

Next Stop: Rue Montorgueil
via Lost in Cheeseland
It’s been quite the International week here at Peaches by Plums! We’ve gone from Sweden to Iceland then popped over to England and landed in France. I think I have a severe case of wanderlust. Every other week I am going to my husband wanting to move to a different country. He thinks I’m crazy but I just love to experience life.
Where to next?

Hidden Comforts
photography via brian ferry
Remember when Brian convinced me to go to Berlin? He has now made me nostalgic for England with this cozy little cottage. My favorite thing in the world is to be tucked away from the world. Maybe that’s why I love blogging so much since I can experience life at a distance from the comforts of my own home.
Anyway, this cottage would be the perfect place for...

A Saturday at the Waltham Farmers Market
What a Saturday! Being in the events industry having a Saturday off is very rare so I knew I had to take advantage. Who knew the fun I would have.
My day started off with a trip to the car wash. I hadn’t been to a car wash since I was very young. It was 3 minutes of pure childlike bliss. I forgot how magical it can be. The track takes you along through the swirling bubbles and brushes and...

For the Love of Food.
found via Black Eiffel; photography via mlw photography
I’ve really been intrigued by food photography. The amount of work that goes in a shoot is incredible. There are so many factors involved that you don’t always think about. Not only do you have to work with light and balance but you need to deal with melting, wilting and sometimes even messy food.
To make a photograph...

Blue Lagoon I Love You.
photography via Peter Baker Photography
From Sweden we are heading to Iceland to the all impressive blue lagoon geothermal spa. This amazing pool of water is part of a lava formation.
The icy yet milky blue color of the water is memorizing. I’ve heard that the Blue Lagoon does wonders for your skin due to the minerals in the water. We may need to take a trip to Iceland very soon.

You’ve heard it all before…minimalistic, clean lines and European. Yes, all the of the things I love in home decor.
Apparently I’m not the only one that feels the same way about homes in the US. I love this comment posted on Apartment Therapy:
Wow, these photos actually make you want to buy a home. Whenever I look at US...

A Glimpse into the Geisha known as Abby.
I’ve always been struck by the beauty and poise of Geishas in Japan. I’m fascinated by the beautiful kimonos, the delicacy and passion of the arts. Although I’m not Japanese I’ve always secretly dreamed of being a Geisha in Kyoto.
One day I will travel to Kyoto and hope to see a glimmer of this secret world that I wish to be apart of.

Honey and Jam Makes Lemon Curd
via honey and jam
This recipe looks divine! I found it over at honey and jam and I definitely want to try it. Not to mention, I’ll use any excuse to look at photos of beautiful lemons.
Lemon Curd From David Lebovitz (I doubled this recipe) Makes 1 cup (240 g) 1/2 cup (125 ml) freshly-squeezed lemon juice
1/3 cup (65 g) sugar (or 1/2 cup, 100 g, if using regular...

Wes Anderson Film Festival
This has got to be the coolest design project I’ve ever seen. Alex Cornell took on this grad assignment and really pulled out all the stops. For all of us who are Wes Anderson junkies we only wish this was a real festival. I’ve got to say, the design material Alex created is phenomenal. You can see the trailer and other posters and packaging by visiting his website.

Journey Through the Lens.
My mini break from blogging was much needed I must say. I’ve had a chance to step back, regroup and reevaluate my source of inspiration and why I blog.
Photographs tell a story, surge with expression and create art. Bonnie Tsang is one of my favorite photographers. I love the way she uses light to capture moments in a charming sort of way. Her photograph of a recent trip to Broder...

Watercolor Snowballs!
via imagine childhood
This just makes me smile. It is so important to me to see the fun and creative in usual things. Sarah has definitely done this and created watercolor snowballs to turn the mundane snowstorm into colorful works of art.
The process is so simple. All you need to do is pour watercolor paint onto the snow, create snowballs and let them dry on paper. The product is a...

How do you arrange your jewels?
via Simply Photo
I have lots of pretty necklaces but have a hard time in finding a way to display them beautifully. Right now they are all stuffed in the jewelry boxes they came in.
They are just so beautiful that they need to be put up. I love the idea of hanging them off hooks and showing them off as art really. Plus it would be much easier to find them!

How do you pick your favorite wedding photo?
Our wedding photographer, Lisa Rigby did a cute valentine’s post and asked her brides & grooms of 2010 what their favorite wedding photo was and why. It was interesting to see everyone’s pics and why that photo was so special to them.
It was an incredibly hard decision but we decided to pick one that was most “us.”
Here’s what we picked!
